Happy September to everyone. I’m hoping everyone had a wonderful August and your summer has been a blessing to you and your family and friends.

I haven’t written a blog in quite some time; several reasons for this. One being I felt August was a transition period for most and I wanted everyone to enjoy their own way of navigating through that period. The other reason I was finishing up my own research on sound therapy, reiki, medicine and spiritual practices. Been very busy with my findings.

For a long time I have been researching sound, music and what different frequencies and tones do to our body, mind, heart and thoughts. Plus how it affects our moods, emotions and healing capabilities. I will show you some of my findings in the paragraphs ahead. One definite thing I can say; this should be much more prominent in the scientific and medical research communities than it currently is.

I have also researched with great detail the effects on our bodies and energy with the words we choose or the words spoken to us. I have known many friends, family members and clients that were diagnosed with cancer. Before those words were spoken to them; they were in good spirits and relatively feeling good. Yes, they had symptoms that were affecting their bodies; but going on with life as usual.
Each one, when they heard the words cancer; went into a kind of shock and depending on the severity of the disease; each one went into a depression, anger, sadness and lacked the energy before they heard their diagnosis. Words are imperative, that we should use them wisely. Even for a patient, who has been told there is nothing they can do. Words leave physical release or constrictions on the cells of what is believed and created by the person. By being constricted, the cells create more ill effects on the body and never have the opportunity to heal. I hope if you’re one that has had that diagnosis from a doctor; that you change those words from “nothing” to “everything” I can do! That this is simply an opportunity and the words are just that; spoken to help you now change the perspective of how you’re treating your body.
So for those who have been diagnosed with any kind of disease, understand those are just words; miracles happen all the time; more than advertised. Change your thoughts to those words (positive ones) and your halfway there. I won’t go too deeply this time around with this subject; but even with everyday activity, choose your words wisely. Self talk can be disastrous or uplifting to your body, thoughts and energy. If you have been diagnosed with anything that has changed your world to a difficult place; there are many treatments that can help. Look at everything that used to be an obstacle or wall; now “see, feel and embrace” it as an opportunity! I can help you wholeheartedly with that.

This blog is about how science, medicine, spirituality and the divine spirit we are, can overcome anything. The words we choose and the beliefs we inherit can all be changed to benefit our entire being!

I have worked with music (aging myself) for over 40 years. Meditation and exploring the many facets to this practice and music and tones and vibrations for over 15 years. There are many areas to this, that I will showcase (I actually use with my energy in motion program) in my next blog. Listing a few is Solfeggio Scales, Binaural Beats, Isochronic Beats and Rhythms, Alpha, Delta, Beta, Schumann Resonance and the many other avenues of sound exploration that is finally coming to the forefront here in the States. Asia, Europe, India and all places in the East have used this since man walked the earth.

I’m definitely a spiritual man, but very scientific too. I truly want to know how something works and what effects are occurring on my clients or patients.

I have finally discovered a program that has had profound results. Being a man of science; I truly understand that, for true research to be published and used; you need many tests and subjects to inform the public on your findings. I’m personally looking for a university to study my program on the bases of science and medicine.
My own findings; I have experienced first hand many that come directly to me expressing what they were going through to now feeling free from those ailments. The ailments were not just physical, but also emotional, spiritual and engrained in their subconscious. Also what I found is my clients lifted huge weights (removing the shackles from their past lives at the root).

My (SST) sustained sound therapy program covers the bases of science, medicine and spiritual practices. I use Sustained Music, Sound and Tones plus Reiki also inviting your Higher Self which is free from the restrictions to the dense energy we succumb to here and endless mind chatter of our physical subconscious mind.
This program is an advanced way of going to the root of the problem or problems and helps aid in that healing process or recovery.
Instead of weeks, months or years; this program has worked instantly for many and only took several sessions for the rest of my clients. The effects were anything from total peace, no pain and feeling better than they did-since they were young to healing within five treatments. Clients went from having traumas, stress, physical conditions that were causing a great deal of pain, night terrors, post traumatic stresses, alcohol and drug abuse, cancers to just needing clarity in their life and life path. I do have to say, some clients were taking medicines or were in therapy; the monumental aspect of sound therapy, reiki and using your higher source energy...it helps in the process of the medicine and other therapies so that it all works together in ways that benefits the client for quicker results. Without ill side-effects or additional traumas to the body. That’s the true meaning of healing; solve the problem quickly so the client can move forward healthy and free of those confinements.

The basis of my study’s were to bring in all areas of life here. We use medicine. We are physical beings. We are also connected to the stars and to the celestial family we pray to or communicate with in dreams or by meditating. In the paragraphs ahead I will be sharing data from many studies. Sound, music, tones, vibrations are based on science and spiritual practices; meditations and healing facilities around the globe. Reiki is more widely accepted in hospitals, hospice and other holistic practices. Some hospitals have inherited their own brand; calling it “healing hands”. I have even found that Reiki is used in Germany; they have Masters go out to the produce and food markets and help release the toxins so the food is fresh. Openly a metaphysics perspective is opening the communication or boundaries with one’s higher source energy. Some refer to their higher self, higher soul or angelic self. Personally I feel we are all higher selves when we are living within the means of our heart!
I have finally come up with something I feel deep within my heart is profound. When you witness so many that simply thank you for helping them move past what they have been going through, some a lifetime of hurt; you smile knowing you are doing your part to help the world heal and embrace their own strengths, wisdom and power, that’s within their hearts, mind and every cell of their body going beyond the physical to the beauty and freedom of their soul’s light!

Here are just a few samples of research I found on sound, music and healing. These articles speak of all types of sound healing. My music covers each instrument as well as altering the frequency, sound waves, scales and tones with the crystal bowls I play.

The study sample is small. But lead author Helen Lavretsky, a professor of psychiatry at UCLA, told Quartz that sound has interesting implications for treating chronic stress and memory problems. Lavretsky is also a fan of sound healing, having experimented with gongs, Tibetan singing bowls, and chanting.
One of sound healing’s biggest mainstream advocates was the late Mitchell Gaynor, an oncologist and clinical assistant professor at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York and director of medical oncology at the school’s Center for Integrative Medicine. (Gaynor died in September.)
Gaynor encouraged sound therapy alongside conventional medicine, arguing that relaxed patients have lower stress hormones, stronger immune systems, and better tools to cope with the psychological and physical effects of their disease and treatment.
Gaynor was turned on to sound healing in the early 1990s, when a Tibetan patient gifted him a traditional singing bowl.
“If somebody had told me when I was a medical student in Dallas, Texas, that one day I would be teaching my patients to use singing bowls to heal themselves, I would have thought he or she was crazy,” Gaynor wrote in the 1999 book The Healing Power of Sound.
Turns out “sound healing” can be actually, well, healing. By Corrine Purtell 2016.

Cognitive and affective effects of music:
Given the role that neuro-transmitters, hormones and the limbic system play in pain according to the NM theory, it is highly relevant that music has been shown to affect the release of endorphins (29–37), dopamine (38,39) and serotonin (40,41), and decrease cortisol levels (39,42–47). A recent review (45) of 400 published scientific articles investigating music as medicine found strong evidence that music has effects on brain chemistry, has mental and physical health benefits on management of mood and stress reduction, and that it is the rhythmic stimulation of music, rather than the melody, that has the greatest antipain effect in the brain.

Through my own research, 30 years; music expands the awareness of balance, in a complete system of energy, that allows the heart to send out neurological signals to the brain and other organs; as a partnership. When this flow of energy occurs; the messages the body receives is to, in-turn, help one another as a force-bringing the body the greatest chance to heal and recover in a quick and profound way. This is why I play music with my crystal bowls. My music I have hand picked over the past 20 years from all over the world. The music and the crystal bowls are in complete unison; so complete that most think the crystal bowls are part of the songs (music) they’re listening to. I’m the conductor, musician and play the bowls to the individual energy (one on one) or the energy of the room and the many concert goers who embrace the symphonic sound medicine. I use concert speakers by Harman Kardon that fills any room in complete sound that amplifies the crystal bowls in layers that covers the solfeggio scales.

Mental illness has reached an all time high in the world, and yet the modern day medicines to relieve symptoms have gained controversy. This is, in part, why people have dug up the past to better understand alternative ways of healing.
Sound, for instance, has been a tool for promoting the physical and emotional health of the body for as long as history can account for, deeply rooted in ancient cultures and civilizations. The ancient Egyptians used vowel sound chants in healing because they believed vowels were sacred. Tibetan monks take advantage of singing bowls, which they believe to be “a symbol of the unknowable” whose “vibrations have been described as the sound of the universe manifesting.”
Our various states of consciousness are directly connected to the ever-changing electrical, chemical, and architectural environment of the brain. Daily habits of behavior and thought processes have the ability to alter the architecture of brain structure and connectivity, as well as, the neurochemical and electrical neural oscillations of your mind.”
Psychoacoustics is the scientific study of the perception of sound, and it has fueled researchers paths to better understand how it can be used as medicine. For instance, in 1973, Dr. Gerald Oster, a medical doctor and biophysicist, proved, in his research paper, “Auditory Beats in the Brain,” how sound affects the how the brain absorbs new information, controls mood, sleep patterns, healing responses, and more, and how quickly. Thus, specific frequencies of sound and music can be used to generate neurotransmitters such as serotonin.

It is thought that different brain wave patterns are connected to the production in the brain of certain neurochemicals linked with relaxation and stress release, as well as better learning and creativity, memory, and more. Such neurochemicals include beta-endorphins, growth factors, gut peptides, acetylcholine, vasopressin, and serotonin.
Psycho-Acoustic Medicine: Science Behind Sound Healing For Serotonin, Neurotransmitters & Health by Alexa Erickson

The history of medicine has experienced rapid advancements and transformations throughout its existence. Its unique background sparked innovative approaches to medicine and allowed various techniques to be incorporated into the medical culture. A new treatment being investigated by doctors and researchers is the use of vibroacoustic therapy, seeking to improve physical conditions. Whether it is healing a wound or breathing, the living body continuously uses energy at the cellular level. The body is always moving, and the microvibrations produced from the cells essentially retrieve energy and are involved in immunologic reactions. These biological occurrences produce rapid vibration in the body that will gradually decrease in speed after injury, intense physical stress, long-term fatigue, and time. The aim of vibroacoustic therapy is to restore the cellular energy lost over time, thus improving the overall health of the patient. The main claim is that vibration of sound increases cellular movement, which will contribute to the improvement of the body.
The application of sound for mental healing has been a treatment used in different cultures throughout history. In fact, the idea came into practice centuries before the European’s exploration of the West. Popular in the eastern side of the world, the purpose of this technique was to create sounds with low vibrations, usually produced by an instrument or human vocals, to improve physical and mental health. The first known people to use this method were the Aborigines, a tribal group from Australia known for their unique markings and strange customs. Using a yidaki, also known as a didgeridoo, a traditional man-made instrument in which one blows air in to produce low vibrations, Aboriginal healers would create sounds to tend to ill tribal members. Not only did these sounds repair broken bones and muscle tears, the sounds also stabilized individuals who were mentally ill, soothing their minds and internal flow. Many modern sound healing equipment emulate the style and vibrations of the yidaki in attempt to assist sick patients. While not advance in technology, the purpose of the devices are similar to that of the yidaki which is to use sound to place patients in a calm state to initiate recovery.

In ancient Egypt, it was believed that vowels were significantly powerful and sacred. For this reason, they were usually chanted by priests for prayer and healing. During that period of time, Egyptian priestesses would use a sistra, a type of musical rattle with metal discs. While performing healing rituals, this instrument would be accompanied by the harp, another therapeutic instrument, and played in reverberant chapels or burial chambers to amplify the sounds. Not only did this rattle produce pleasing jangling sounds, but it also generated sufficient amounts of ultrasound, a product that currently benefits modern hospitals and clinics as a potent healing modality. With this evidence, it is safe to assume that Egyptian priest did not use sistra simply to produce a calming soundscape, but to tend to the ill as an effective healing treatment. During the Greco-Roman period, sounds and music were used therapeutically to sooth the psyche and reduce anger and aggression. Many of the healing temples functioned as incubations, a process in which patients underwent dream sleep during their stay. The reverberant spaces and calm setting allowed vibrations to have a maximum effect on the body. These are few examples of traditional vibroacoustic therapy throughout history, and in each culture sound and music was understood to be a curative treatment for illnesses. Because of its positive results, many studies have been investigating the effects sound therapy on humans as well as its potential in replacing pharmaceutical prescriptions. In recent experiments, researchers have been exploring the use of sound therapy with mentally dysfunctional patients, specifically those with autism or aggressive impulses. The claim is that the procedure would reduce certain symptoms from the patient and improve social behaviors. Although sound therapy is a fairly new approach, the results of current studies align with those of past experiments and culture practices, suggesting potential in therapeutic treatment.
Researchers from the Center for Rehabilitation Research and the Center for Adult Habilitation conducted an experiment on the effectiveness of vibroacoustic music therapy as a method of treatment for patients with developmental disorders and challenging behaviors. It is universally agreed that music sparks an internal feelings in listeners. The connection between the individual and music is a strong appreciation that refers back to the beginning of humanity, an enjoyment that can potentially effect the health of the listener. Since the start of vibroacoustic experimentation, which originated in Scandinavia regions during the 1970s, there have been cases that suggest this therapy reduces muscle tones, spasms, pain, and anxiety.

Nevertheless, this is an innovative approach that combines vibration and music to tend to human health. Not only should this therapy be integrated in medicine, but it should be accessible to anyone experiencing physical or psychological distress.

My program consists of changing vibrations, tones and sounds with music. There are studies with sound therapy through headphones and in person. The studies show that in person, greatly benefits the client or patient. I can attest this to the sound therapy bowls; they’re definitely heard through the ears, but more importantly they’re felt throughout the body. When this happens the sound stimulates the nerve bundles along the spine, up into the brain stem and then through the limbic system. The sound from the crystal bowls stimulates the medulla in the brain stem and activates the auditory nerve that connects all the muscles of the body. These signals then flood the brain with mood lifting chemicals. In addition, the low frequencies cause a relaxation of the tissues, and a dilation of blood vessels, as well as, an opening of the lymphatic pathways which, in turn, increases the body's ability to heal.

Sound has been a tool for promoting the physical and emotional health of the body for as long as history can account for, deeply rooted in ancient cultures and civilizations.
Tibetan monks take advantage of singing bowls, which they believe to be “a symbol of the unknowable” whose “vibrations have been described as the sound of the universe manifesting.”.

Psychoacoustics is the scientific study of the perception of sound, and it has fueled researchers paths to better understand how it can be used as medicine. To understand the fundamentals of sound in healing, we must first understand our brain waves. The nucleus of our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, is the communication between neurons. Brain waves are generated by way of electrical pulses working in unison from masses of neurons interacting with one another. Brain waves are divided into five different bandwidths that are thought to form a spectrum of human consciousness. The slowest of the waves are delta waves (.5 to 3 Hz), which are the slowest brain waves and occur mostly during our deepest state of sleep. The fastest of the waves are gamma waves (25 to 100 Hz), which are associated with higher states of conscious perception. Alpha waves (8 to 12 Hz) occur when the brain is daydreaming or consciously practicing mindfulness or meditation.

According to Dr. Suzanne Evans Morris, Ph.D., a speech-language pathologist:
Research shows that different frequencies presented to each ear through stereo headphones… create a difference tone (or binaural beat) as the brain puts together the two tones it actually hears. Through EEG monitoring the difference tone is identified by a change in the electrical pattern produced by the brain. For example, frequencies of 200 Hz and 210 Hz produce a binaural beat frequency of 10 Hz (The difference in 210 Hz and 200 Hz is 10 Hz). Monitoring of the brain’s electricity (EEG) shows that the brain produces increased 10 Hz activity with equal frequency and amplitude of the wave form in both hemispheres of the brain (left and right hemisphere).

A series of experiments conducted by neuro-electric therapy engineer Dr. Margaret Patterson and Dr. Ifor Capel, revealed how alpha brainwaves boosted the production of serotonin. Dr. Capel explained:
As far as we can tell, each brain center generates impulses at a specific frequency based on the predominant neurotransmitter it secretes. In other words, the brain’s internal communication system—its language, is based on frequency… Presumably, when we send in waves of electrical energy at, say, 10 Hz, certain cells in the lower brain stem will respond because they normally fire within that frequency range.
It’s very intriguing to think that something as simple as sound, as music, which we have come to treat as utterly pleasurable entertainment, has not only been used to promote healing and well-being, but has proven to work through research as well.
SOUND THERAPY AND WELL-BEING: SOME SCIENTIFIC STUDIES by Matteo Nunner; medicinanarrativa.edu

During my sessions and concerts; what I call layering, my bowls and music together cause an effect of binaural beats that are not just heard but felt. This process opens the communication of the auditory nerves and sends signals throughout the body.
The cochlear nerve (also auditory or acoustic neuron) is one of two parts of the vestibulocochlear nerve, a cranial nerve present in amniotes, the other part being the vestibular nerve. The cochlear nerve carries auditory sensory information from the cochlea of the inner ear directly to the brain. The other portion of the vestibulocochlear nerve is the vestibular nerve, which carries spatial orientation information to the brain from the semicircular canals, also known as semicircular ducts that lead to the brain stem.
In simple terminology; the visual, sensory and auditory perceptions (energy) expand the true dynamics of healing by such means as what I have come up with; (energy in motion).
There are many names describing sound healing. All are effective and can help with healing. Gongs, bowls, chanting, special recorded programs and the use of other instruments.
No matter your personal journey; I simply want you to be in peace and I want you to heal what ever is causing you pain, grief or sadness. If we truly want a better world; a closer family relationship, then on an individual level, we need to help ourselves be that peace, harmony, happiness and love from within.

This leads me to closing this newsletter/ blog; before I do, I want to tie this all in with the word that many express, but have trouble showing. Showing ourselves, each other, our thoughts, our past, our future that comes full circle to our present experiences. It’s Love. See, to me; this is the true healing power. It’s our true inner strength and connection to everything. It’s the true proof, that to the many that are in that beautiful state of energy; they’re healthier, they shine their energy that opens that energy within you when you’re near them and it’s the true energy source that helps you be that larger picture here on earth.

If you’re lucky enough to be in a relationship right now; I ask you to do me a favor. Try something with your significant other; it will only take five minutes a day, but it will bring you both closer than you could dream.

Sit close to one another facing each other. Don’t touch, but just stare into the eyes of your loved one. This could be your daughter, son, friend, lover, husband, wife or anyone you love. Just stare and don’t turn away. Let your emotions run free and flowing. If tears come, let them in. Yes, you can blink. But don’t turn away. By doing this simple (heart to heart exercise) daily; what words cannot express-your heart truly will. As we know; words can heal or they can hurt. They can help or they can hinder.

I’m so grateful and honored to have shared this with you all. I can help you overcome any “opportunity” so you will see, feel and experience that true love, strength, peace and freedom you have within. This natural state of energy is your birthright and celestial might! Energy In Motion with SST (Sustained Sound Therapy) helps you heal, discover and embrace that “sound source” you have within you to overcome what most view is obstacles.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this; you’re amazing and I always send blessings and reiki love to you and your families.

Every night I send out reiki as my gift to the world; please send me a brief description, name and where the person is you would like me to send reiki. I will add them to my prayer box. Please sign up for my newsletter on my website 22lunar.com and for the healing hour each night on my other website energyinmotionhealing.com. That’s my thank you to you all; I love what I do and I’m simply blessed to be able to do this type of work that I know helps in ways that sometimes logic can’t describe! It’s simply felt and embraced.

Many blessings and happiness. Please have a outstanding rest of September and may your October be filled with love and laughter!

Namaste,

John Steinbauer
